LOST & FOUND

When I realized my engagement ring was no longer on my finger, my heart gave a downward tug in my chest. The ring was a white sapphire encircled by filigree that my husband had picked out for me (with the help of his daughter), and though there was no real monetary value to the ring, it was worth millions in sentimental value.

I discovered the loss after my shift at a local food bank, where I volunteer once a week. I wear gloves on the job, as I have to deal with shipping crates, wooden produce pallets and the occasional egg carton with a cracked shell or two. I love the work; knowing I’m helping my community neighbours through difficult times is more rewarding than getting that rare (for me) $2 winning scratch-off lottery ticket.

So, imagine the horror I felt when I got home, took off my gloves, and found – bare ring finger. I think my sharp screech of dismay was so loud, people in Portugal turned their heads and asked easy other, “What was that?”

I telephoned the food bank, thinking I may have lost it there. Nope, no one had turned in a ring. Then I called the tea shop where I occasionally meet my fellow co-workers after the shift. Nada. I traced my steps around my house to see if maybe, just maybe, I’d taken the ring off for some reason. I scoured every room to no avail.

My precious ring was gone with the wind.

I was this close to tears and giving up hope when I thought if only I could call on Sherlock Holmes in spirit to help me locate the missing item. And then I realized: well, maybe I have the next best thing.

“C’mon, guys,” I said to my spirit guides. “I need your help. Please let me find my ring.” And I prayed on it and meditated on my ring and, as the saying goes, “Let go and let God.”

After sitting still for about twenty minutes, my ring still hadn’t appeared, but at least I was calm enough to no longer want to start climbing the walls. I sighed, walked into the washroom to wash my hands—

And there was my ring, on the floor next to the bottom of the sink. Gobsmacked, I almost fell over. I had searched that room at least three times earlier and focused on that spot and found nothing. Yet there was my ring, just waiting for it to be picked up and slid onto my finger.

“THANKS, GUYS!” I screamed, so overjoyed, I no longer cared about bothering people in Portugal.

I went back to look at the spot I’d found the ring. I know I had searched that spot before. Several times! I realized then that the ring must’ve been an apport from spirit. Spirit had dematerialized my ring from wherever I’d dropped it, then rematerialized it somewhere I’d surely find it. (Apporter, from the French verb for “to carry”.)

You may have encountered apports without even knowing what they were. Have you ever found a dime in an odd place, or a white feather when there were no birds around? Those are apports, signs let us know a loved one from the spirit world is nearby.

Here’s an interesting website dedicated to spirit apports, and even asks that you share your story of finding intriguing objects that seem to come out of nowhere. Check it out.

Losing or misplacing something can be quite frustrating. But don’t give up! Ask your guides for help. You never know what you might find.
