Reading a book about how psychic medium John Edward helped the FBI with missing persons cases brought back a chilling memory. Several years ago, a frantic woman telephoned me and asked if I could locate her son’s dead body.
The book is Chasing Evil: Shocking Crimes, Supernatural Forces, and an FBI Agent’s Search for Hope and Justice, by Edward and FBI agent Bob Hillard. I mention it in my newsletter, because it’s a fascinating read.
I’m often asked during readings if I can locate lost jewelry, find missing people, and solve crimes. As to jewelry and similar precious items, my reply is “I’ll try my best, but I can’t guarantee it.” I have a pretty good track record, but I’m not perfect. Usually, if I can’t locate the item, it’s because the piece has been unfortunately – and often accidentally – discarded long ago.
I can’t solve crimes because I’m not a policewoman, and I can’t advise on legal matters because I’m not a lawyer. Besides which, the words of a psychic medium have no value in a court of law. In addition, I can’t try to be a psychic lie detector on people I’ve never met. For that reason, and others, I’d rather not comment on who’s swindling who, how ill-gotten gains are being used, and the like.
The most difficult pleas I get are those from people who want to know about loved ones who have been victims of crimes of violence. What makes this request tough is to do this task, I must psychically link in with the victim during the act of violence, and doing so takes a high emotional toll on my psyche. This is especially gut-wrenching when the plea involves children. Being a mother, the terror I feel when linking in with a crime involving a child quickly transfers to anxiety I’ll feel around protecting my own children. There are some psychics who offer this kind of help to the police, and I send them gratitude and blessings for their emotionally trying work.
Which is why when I received a telephone call several years ago from a Vancouver mother in distress, it pained me to have to tell her I was not the right person to help. Her emotionally troubled son had taken off for Labrador several months ago, and she had recently dreamed that he had taken his own life. I suggested she seek a session with another psychic who was better suited to help her quest.
After our call, I said a prayer asking spirit to guide her and ease her pain. And then, without meaning to, I received a message from my guides. Drugs were involved in the disappearance of this burly man in his early 20s, and there was a lot of anger with his family and in his soul that he had a difficult time processing. And whether he was alive or dead, the man did not want to be found.
Reading John Edward’s book brought back that story, as well as several others I have experienced over my years of working with spirit. The account is also a sad reminder that, no matter how hard I and others try our best when doing this work, not all stories have a happy ending.
