GHOSTS IN THE GRAVEYARD

I’m hesitant to go into graveyards. Not because I’m fearful of meeting the dead – I encounter helpful spirit people every day in my work. But I’ve found that in places like funeral homes and graveyards, there are restless spirits who don’t want to go into the light. They aren’t evil or malevolent, they just seem confused. And then they that want to attach themselves to me. I used to wonder why this was so, until I recently read something that made me understand why cemeteries can be so active for spirit, and why some intuitive people experience sadness and feelings of being watched.

MEDITATING WITH THE DALAI LAMA

I’ve got spirit and the Dalai Lama to thank for guiding me back to a more regulated meditation. And, maybe I should also add, a rude driver that cut me off when I was turning onto Finch Avenue. It was just before New Year’s, and I was driver around trying to get all the ingredients I needed for a special New Year’s Eve dinner for my husband and me, when some blankety-blank silver Lexus shot out of one lane and zoomed into the shoebox-sized space between my car and the one before me. DREAM TEACHER

I’ve been teaching psychic development and mediumship classes for 15 years, and before every semester begins, I study the latest work of experts in the field so I can deliver fun and innovative lessons to help my students tap into and strengthen their intuitive abilities. But lately, it seems I’ve developed a new method of instruction that I wasn’t even aware of. A couple students have told me that I’ve been teaching them by appearing in their dreams!

TIME IN THE SPIRIT WORLD

I took a deep breath and smiled. No need to rush. And as I sat in my car and watched the high-schoolers making the market entrance festive, I remembered another reason why December was important to a young newlywed, how her wish came true and the lesson that spirit moves at its own speed.

THE POSSESSED POSSESSIONS

Our friend, Michael, collects old blues and jazz records from the early 1900’s, and newspapers from that same era. He especially loves comics sections from those ancient papers and tabloids. We met him and his lovely wife, Lila, recently in Toledo, Ohio, to visit the marvellous Glass Pavilion, which is part of the Toledo Museum of Art. During dinner that evening, Dave turned to me and said he’d bought a box of newspapers from the 1880’s that, even though they smelled like they’d been sitting in a musty attic for 100 years – and they probably were – the newsprint was still readable. Yet, Michael said, there was something a little strange about his treasures.
